Seoul, South Korea, April 18, 2022 – Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) has received the Trusted Information Security Assessment eXchange (TISAX) certification, reinforcing its commitment to providing the highest standards for information security management systems.

With suppliers and service providers in the automotive industry processing sensitive customer information, data protection and privacy is growingly becoming critical. Aligned with increased security awareness, Hankook Tire has re-established and proved its information security management system, which led to ten of its business locations obtaining the TISAX label. It includes Hankook Tire’s headquarters and plants located in Korea, China and Europe as well as its state-of-the-art R&D center Hankook Technodome.

TISAX has been introduced by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) based on ISO/IEC 27001, the internationally recognized information security standard. It is a specifically defined standard of the automotive industry relating to information security, and many auto manufacturers are calling for their partners including original equipment tire suppliers to undergo the assessment to ensure that their information security management systems are deployed and controlled.

From initial to final inspection, the TISAX audit process is comprehensive and specific. A company’s information security management system is inspected over a period of time and must go through on-site due diligence checks. Organizations must meet the requirements in four criteria: Information security, connections to third parties, data protection, and prototype protection.

Sooil Lee, President and CEO of Hankook Tire & Technology says, “This accreditation attests to Hankook’s dedication to furthering information protection management that is becoming important in the automobile industry. With our systematic and professional information security system that meets the demand of global automakers’ strict standards, Hankook will continue to be a reliable business partner and a global top-tier player with robust and consistent information security on top of its R&D capabilities.”
