Hankook Tire recognized with Gold Prize at the LACP 2022 Spotlight Awards

Seoul, Korea, December 6, 2022 – Global leading tire company Hankook Tire has been awarded at the LACP 2022 Spotlight Awards. Presented by League of American Communications Professionals, Hankook Tire received the Gold Prize in the Online Report Category in recognition of the company’s 2021-2022 ESG Report.

League of American Communications Professionals, a world-renowned marketing research institute, is a global communication professional organization established by American communication experts. Since 2001, it has been evaluating and awarding sustainability management reports and annual reports published by companies and organizations around the world every year. This year, over 500 reports from 12 countries were submitted.

Hankook Tire's 2021-2022 ESG Report received the highest score in four out of six evaluation criteria, including First Impression, Narrative, Design, and Creativity, tallying a high score of 98 out of 100. In addition, it was selected as one of the best reports, receiving the label, Worldwide Top 100.

Hankook Tire started publishing its ESG report annually since 2010, detailing on the company’s activities in sustainability management, activities and performance, as well as mid- to long-term strategies. In particular, this year’s report described Hankook’s performance in three priority categories in line with the company’s ESG Vision launched in 2021. These included Eco Value Chain, Sustainable Product, and Responsible Engagement.

Moreover, the report’s Highlights section covered in detail about Hankook’s Carbon Neutral Roadmap which showed the company’s active participation in solving the climate crisis and improvements on sustainability reporting in accordance with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.

Hankook Tire is making various efforts to strengthen sustainability management. After establishing the ESG Committee in July last year, the Board of Directors announced the Corporate Governance Charter this May stating how the company will improve greenhouse gas reduction across the value chain. In September, Hankook became the first company in the Korean tire industry to submit the SBTi greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Based on these initiatives and achievement, Hankook is recognized by prestigious institutions in the field. In 2021, Hankook Tire earned the platinum medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, given to only top 1% within each industry sector. The company has also been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World for six consecutive years from 2016 to 2021. In 2022, Hankook was awarded with Gold Class in the Sustainability Yearbook 2022 published by S&P Global.
